Dr. Taha bin Yahya Al-Qahtani: A Journey of Dedication and Excellence from Scientific Research to the Advancement of Higher Education
Dr. Taha bin Yahya Al-Qahtani is an Associate Professor of Pharmacology at the College of Pharmacy, King Khalid University. He currently serves as Vice Dean for Academic Plans and Programs Development at the Deanship of Development and Quality, as well as Advisor to the Vice President for Educational Affairs on Academic Plans and Curricula.
He earned his Bachelor's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from King Khalid University in 2009, followed by a Master's degree in Pharmacology from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS), USA, in 2015, and a Ph.D. in Molecular Pharmacology from the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom, in 2021.
Dr. Al-Qahtani has extensive academic and leadership experience in higher education, academic development, and quality assurance. He has held several leadership positions at King Khalid University, including Head of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Vice Dean of the College of Pharmacy, and Vice Dean for Educational Affairs and Development at the College of Pharmacy, a position he held for five years. He has also served as a member and chair of several standing and executive committees at both the college and university levels.
His professional expertise encompasses academic program and curriculum development, quality assurance and program accreditation, learning outcomes assessment, academic and strategic planning, and the advancement of educational systems and practices. He has contributed to numerous initiatives involving the development and review of academic programs, program accreditation, and the enhancement of university academic regulations and procedures.
Dr. Al-Qahtani has authored several research papers published in peer-reviewed scientific journals in the fields of pharmacology, toxicology, and cancer research. He has also served as Principal Investigator on several funded research projects and participated in national and international scientific conferences and symposia.
In recognition of his academic and research contributions, he has received several awards and certificates of excellence, including the Promising Researcher Award at King Khalid University and First Place in the Excellence in Teaching and Learning Award at the 2025 King Khalid University Excellence Awards.
