The Deanship of Development and Quality held a workshop on Monday, April 20, 2026, at the Training Hall of the Deanship’s headquarters, entitled “Quality Guide: Governance – Roles – and Implementation Mechanisms.” The workshop was delivered by Dr. Younes Shahlawi, one of the Deanship’s advisors, and was attended by approximately 30 participants from university staff.

The workshop aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of the quality assurance framework, clarify governance concepts, and define roles and responsibilities within academic programs. It also addressed practical implementation mechanisms, performance indicators analysis, and the design of effective improvement plans that support academic accreditation and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

The workshop covered several key themes, including:

The concept of quality assurance and its relationship to accreditation as a continuous process driven by an effective system.
An overview of national accreditation standards (NCAAA) and global quality models.
The distinction between Quality Assurance (QA), Quality Control (QC), and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI).
Governance structures within academic programs, including the roles of quality committees, program coordinators, and faculty members.
Practical application of the quality cycle (Plan–Do–Check–Act) through annual reports and improvement plans.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), along with data collection and document management mechanisms.

The workshop also included practical activities and interactive discussions حول real-life cases, such as analyzing student satisfaction results, assessing learning outcomes, and addressing academic underperformance. These activities emphasized data-driven decision-making.

At the conclusion of the workshop, the presenter emphasized that quality is a shared responsibility, and that clear roles and effective governance form the foundation for achieving continuous improvement. He noted that academic accreditation is a natural outcome of a well-integrated and effective quality system.

This workshop comes as part of the Deanship of Development and Quality’s ongoing efforts to support academic programs, promote a culture of quality, and empower university staff to implement best practices in quality assurance and accreditation.
